Mitchell, 25, improved his record to 30-0 by beating Amir Khan's conqueror Breidis Prescott last December.
And further success against Prescott's fellow Colombian Mendoza at Wembley Arena would put him in line for a world title shot.
With WBO champion Juan Manuel Marquez's future at lightweight uncertain despite a bout with Khan apparently falling through, Mitchell could square off against 'interim' champion Katsidis, with the title at stake should the Mexican relinquish it.
"I reckon when the summer comes, or just before, I'll have my world title fight," Mitchell said.
"(Promoter) Frank Warren has guided my career for seven years now and I'm 30 fights unbeaten, he's had it spot on. When he says it's time to go for a world title, we'll go. I'm ready now, though.
